Rom 1:11 For I long to see you so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established;
Paul longed to give the Gospel or mystery doctrine given to Him to the church at Rome. So that in excersizing his gift to teach that gospel that they would have a foundation for their faith to build on and mature. Paul knew that teaching this would give them the ability to begin their spiritual walk in that they would then have the foundation to fight the fight of spiritual warfare. Eph 6:10-24 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. But that you also may know about my circumstances, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make everything known to you. I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know about us, and that he may comfort your hearts. Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love. Paul also knew that as he started these letters that they would go from church to church around the world empowering and edifying and teaching all believers. Rev 22:16-21 "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star." The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book. He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming quickly." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.

Romans 1:10
Rom 1:10 always in my prayers making request, if perhaps now at last by the will of God I may succeed in coming to you.
Here we see that Paul was making constant requests to God to get and be face to face with the church at Rome. We see though that this was not only a request, but he wanted it to be the will of God also. Paul wanted this to be in the Lords timing and not just a selfish request. we also need to wait on the Lords timing for EVERYTHING. It is no wrong for us to make request to the father ourselves in fact He wants us to! Php 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Even Christ made requests that He knew was near impossible but made the request while at the same time leaving it up to the will of the Father. Mat 26:39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will." So God wants us to make our request to him as long as they are within His plan for our lives and fit in His timing. Although most of us make the mistake of not doing this we need not be condemned but ask for forgiveness and He gives us Grace. Grace upon Grace.

Romans 1:9
Rom 1:9 For God, whom I serve in my spirit in the preaching of the gospel of His Son, is my witness as to how unceasingly I make mention of you,
Paul in his spirit is serving God, by using his spiritual gift, and preaching the Gospel of Christ. We are likewise called to serve our God by using the gift in which he has given us. Also we see that God was Pauls witness and our witness. This is again because of the perfect work of Christ here on earth. Paul is using God as his witness as to how much he was making mention of the church at Rome. Seeing this shows us that sometimes God will be our only witness, but that is not to stop us. He wants us to do His will even if He is the only one who knows.

Romans 1:8
Rom 1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, because your faith is being proclaimed throughout the whole world. NASB
Paul first thanks God through Christ for the church in Rome. Christ is the channel in which we speak to God the Father. We attain by this right by becoming children of God because of Christs work on earth by first becoming a man, and then fulfilling the Fathers plan through Christs work on the cross, then being raised on the third day by God the Father and the Holy Spirit, thus defeating death, being taken up and placed at the right hand of the Father.
Second we see that Paul is thanking God, because the faith of the Roman Church is known throughout the entire known world at that time. We also know that this work of faith is being done before Paul has gotten the chance to be there with them face to face.
